     The post-holder will report to the Head of Strategic Marketing – Higher Education and Vocational, and will be based in our Andover, Hampshire offices.



    The Strategic Marketing Manager will manage a portfolio of Cengage Learning’s high profile Higher Education (HE) products in order to achieve revenue growth within Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). This role will devise, plan and implement the strategic marketing plans for the product portfolios. We have two roles available, both maternity cover contracts for approximately 9-12 months.









    • This role will work with key functions within the business to devise and implement strategies for marketing the portfolio and its key products imported from the US and locally published titles.
    • Developing multi-channel integrated and content led marketing campaigns aimed at increasing awareness for key products.
    • Working with the Marketing Communications team and providing this function with detailed briefs to implement customer focused marketing campaigns.
    • Taking ownership of the portfolio (both print and digital) in all aspects of the marketing remit, striving to increase sales for the lists.
    • Participating and presenting in the product and strategy sessions at Sales Meetings as well as presenting product information to Sales team via face to face and online channels.
    • Supporting the HE Sales team across all markets by creating sales tools to disseminate product and market information. Assist Sales with product queries and offer product knowledge on campus visits.
    • Conduct market research and analyse data to support customer decisions and for to use on internal and external marketing campaigns including the write up of case studies.
    • Review and monitor current market conditions and competitor activity and adjust marketing strategies accordingly and as necessary.
    • Work with Sales, Publishing and other departments regarding future product development, execution of marketing plans and attend validation meetings, and in doing so identify growth areas and business opportunities for the portfolio.
    • Liaise with the US company and international companies to utilise market and product information effectively and in a timely manner.
    • Set the pricing of import products to ensure these are competitively priced for EMEA markets.
    • Review pricing for key products annually.

    Essential Criteria


    Work Experience and Skills

      • Experience in a Product Marketing role.
      • Experience in understanding sales drivers, product positioning, presentation skills and copy-writing.
      • Good PC skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

    Desirable Criteria


    Work Experience/Technical Skills

    • Experience within Sales or Marketing in the education publishing industry or business information sector.
    • Product management experience.

    Academic Qualifications


    • BA (Hons) in a business or marketing discipline desirable but not essential
    • CIM Diploma in Marketing desirable but not essential
